This is a group for movies fans who enjoy watching foreign and independent films. For those who enjoy to talk about movies and critique them. We would meet before or after a movie to socialize and talk about movies. Although this group is meant to bring together people who enjoy all kind of movies, events will not be restricted to watching movies. Events such as dinning, happy hour in-house movie nights will also be scheduled.

Once a month, we gather together in a space in West Philly that can fit up to 50 people to watch a movie and talk about it. We generally focus on recent dvd releases of foreign, independent, and documentary films. After watching the film together, we have a discussion which usually lasts about 50 minutes. It's been great to meet people from so many different backgrounds and see the value that diversity adds to our group and discussions. Javaflix is a free event.

The group's purpose is to attend independent and foreign films as well as other cultural events and lectures both in NJ and NYC. All of our meetings will include a separate opportunity to get together afterward and discuss the event and socialize. We will meet on a on a Wednesday evening once a month. In addition to our Wednesday once a month meetups the group will have other impromptu meetups on other days and be given one to two weeks notice.

As independent filmmakers, we know how hard it is to find a platform to screen our movies. This group will be a platform for indie filmmakers to screen their movies. The intention of this group is to help indie filmmakers to organize screenings,  to get more people for their screening and help them get some profit from tickets so they can keep making more movies.
