… Film-wise, this group gives us the opportunity to screen a diverse selection of current, classic, notable, and memorable films in commercial venues, private venues, dining venues, film festivals, libraries, and screening rooms. It also provides a nice social environment to eat, chat and laugh, and an opportunity to discuss afterwards the films we see. We also add to our schedule live performances, comedy shows, dining events, and other cultural activities that we find interesting for our group. …

Once a month, we gather together in a space in West Philly that can fit up to 60 people to watch a movie and talk about it. We generally focus on recent dvd releases of foreign, independent, and documentary films. After watching the film together, we have a discussion which usually lasts about 50 minutes. It's been great to meet people from so many different backgrounds and see the value that diversity adds to our group and discussions. Javaflix is a free event.

Cinémathèque is a repertory foreign film program curated by an independent media art collective. Conceived to be hands-on and intimate, screenings are coordinated at various designated venues within Center City Philadelphia. The intention of these screenings is to expand the discussion surrounding international film language.
